About the Artist: |
During her undergraduate study, Ms. Castellano had a minor in art history. For this minor, Ms. Castellano was fortunate to travel to Florence, Italy to complete intense coursework. She received her BFA in May of 1999. Ms. Castellano completed her Masters program early in January of 2000 and received her MAT in art education. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude and Art Department Honors. Elizabeth Castellano is a middle school art teacher at IS 218 in New York City. She teaches a variety of projects with her students including lessons on the elements of art, still life, gesture drawing, collage and portraits. She collaborates with many community organizations, including the Inwood Public Library. Her students' artwork is displayed on www.artsonia.com. In the past, Ms. Castellano was an adjunct professor at Mercy College. She teught EDUC 510 - Art Across the Curriculum in Early Childhood through Middle Childhood, Including Students with Disabilities. She also was an adjunct professor at Manhattanville College where she taught art education courses. She also taught junior high school art in Rockaway Beach, Queens and elementary school in Harlem. When Elizabeth is not teaching, she can be found painting in studio located in Putnam County, New York. |
